"When one door closes, another one opens..."

Welcome to the Dr. and Mrs. D.N. Luciani Foundation. Our mission is to provide university scholarships for students who have lost a parent to cancer. We are a registered non-profit tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

About Us

The Dr. and Mrs. D.N. Luciani Foundation was established in memory of Dan and Dianne Luciani, two incredibly kind, compassionate, and intelligent individuals who believed in the value of education and the need to help others.

During Dan's impressive medical career, he devoted himself to the patients he cared for in his practice, to research, and to lecturing at his alma mater, the University of Toronto, the highest ranked university in Canada (according to the 2019 QS World University rankings
). Always a proponent of "work hard and play hard", Dan enjoyed a variety of pastimes including astronomy, baseball, reading, and fishing. Above all, he was a dedicated husband and father, steadfast in his faith in God and true to his code of ethics. He lost his battle with prostate cancer in March 2001.

Dianne, also a graduate of University of Toronto, was a lifelong member of Mensa, who volunteered in politics, advocacy for victims of child abuse, and was heavily involved in a variety of programs and initiatives for gifted children. While her intelligence and many talents could have led her anywhere, Dianne, affectionately known as Mama Looch, rightfully felt that she found her true calling in being a mother. Second only to the love of her family was her passion for music, which was a constant in every aspect of her life. She lost her battle with bladder cancer in November 2007.

In addition to their children, this foundation is intended to be a part of Dan and Dianne's legacy, moving forward in service to others, which is the spirit in which they lived their lives.
